Zinnia Horticulture

The team at Zinnia Horticulture have regular contracts to maintain private gardens in Bromley and together we are developing an online nursery.

Bromley Y Garden

Bromley Y is a long established organisation offering free, confidential counselling to young people between the ages of 11-23 within the borough of Bromley.

There is a lovely garden being maintained and developed by David and ZCE and this is soon to be jointly funded by Bromley Y and ZCE.

The garden was looking a bit over grown in August, but after a successful day with five wonderful volunteers it is looking ready for some new plants

There are some great mature plants including Peonies, Japanese Anemone, Daisy, Bears Breeches (Acunthus) and Crocosmia

The area below used to be a rockery, but it has become over grown with winter flowering Jasmine, a vine and Ivy.  With some work the lovely pink climbing rose can be given centre stage again and a modern rockery planted.

We created this area around the side of the building because it had been a mess of brambles and weeds and we wanted to try and make it low maintenance.  It has worked well, but does need some attention from time to time.  We hope to use the space to hold some of our collection of Hemerocallis (see the online nursery when the page has been published)

We put in Hemerocallis Crimson Pirate, Dahlia Bishop of York and red Geum below to be seen from the kitchen window and used as cut flowers, they have grown and made it through the hard winter, but this time of year there could be a real shock of colour so we need to add new plants

With the new agreement between Bromley Y and ZCE we will have it looking great soon.
The first step was to get volunteers to get up the weeds, dig out anything unwanted and lift and divide some of the more mature plants

The next step is to choose plants for the car park border and kitchen window border and get them in on time to develop strong roots before winter

We have lots of other plans we can put into action over winter and we will update this page whenever we do
